Hello everyone, sorry for the lack of commentary reply! Have been busy at work but it's all done and dusted now (meaning no more chateau de versailles *sob*). Was glad and slightly surprised to see that not one of you mocked me for not knowing what a diplomat was (thank you dear readers)! I still get rather annoyed when I think of this woman, but I do feel lots better about the whole situation if I just imagine her arriving in Scotland and introducing her husband as a French bawbag!

Ha ha, nothing is quite as effective as the word baw bag. I can just imagine her using it somewhere down the line, perhaps on a trip to Balmoral, "excuse me, but we are all baw bags, does this mean a price reduction?"
One of the downsides of being an expat is losing your "lingo" but thankfully even though I am in Germany I can say the word quite often as I am married to a fellow Scot! We also taught the word to my best French friend and it is most amusing - hope she doesn't meet your lady from Versailles :-)
